NOVEL PLAYLIST:
A Lion's Hunger (Poems of Love)

Hey girl, It's Destiny and I really enjoyed your novel called A Lions Hunger (poems of love). I picked some songs that I felt was very appropriate.

The First song was "Stay" by Rihanna and the reason I chose this song was that you wanted to work it out and you wanted him to stay. One quote from the song was “I want you stay”.

The next song that I chose was "Can We" by Brandy. The reason that I chose this song was because you thought you would be together forever. One quote from the song to prove this is a good song for the book is “Can we work it out, can we talk it out”.

The next song I chose was "All of Me" by John Legend. The reason I chose this song for this book is that you loved him with all your heart. One quote from the song is “all of me loves all of you”.

The last song is Million by Tink. The reason I chose this song for this book is because you thought he was different and that he was one in a million. One quote from the song is “your one in a million”.

Evans Novel Playlist

9/17/15
Dear Saba,
I have put together a playlist of songs based on your personality and the events you went through on your quest to get your brother back.

Song number one is Radioactive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktvTqknDobU. The reason I chose this song is that “the tonton control everybody with that chaal the crowed starts to bay like a crazy pack closing in on the kill”(page 153). I chose this quote because even when the tonton control people with chaal you are still fighting and trying to get away.

The second song I chose is mortal combat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjQ7jJx9PJk . The reason I chose this song is because “ But then the red hot kicks in an at last I understand what it is. It’s like animals. A animal will do anything to live” (147). I chose this quote because in the theme song of mortal combat it says “it’s not about death but life”. And this is what you figured out, Saba.

The third song I chose is monster https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9NStVkSCuk . I chose this song because of your willingness to live. “One of us had to go. An sure as hell warn’t gonna be me” (147).

I am sending you this play list of these songs because of your personal traits.

Yours,

Evan Mitchell

Dear Alex,
I’m writing you a letter today to encourage you and to help you get through tough times. I just want to let you know that you can get through anything no matter how hard things get keep your head up and strive for greatness and perfection.

SONG 1

"Ain't no mountain high enough, ain't no valley low enough, ain't no river wide enough." This quote represents that in the book Alex thinks that he can’t get the starting position. This song is encouraging because Marvin Gaye is saying nothing he too hard to make you stop and give up.

SONG 2

Drake- started from the bottom this is a good song because “Alex also started from the bottom and made his way to the top position and started quarterback. He didn’t know he could get the starting position because he was a freshman but he did it.”

SONG 3

Wiz khalifa- Work hard, Play hard is a good song cause he saying if you work hard you play hard which in the book “Alex’s friend told him to work harder in an out of practice he could start and he did.”

SONG 4

Drake- Trophies is a good song because he saying no matter what he does he is going to get what he wants to accomplish and he is going to get his rewards and “Alex won the championship for his team” so he got a trophy just like Drake.

Sincerely Brion Thomas
Dear Perry,

I feel bad for you that you were taken hostage by the girl that was your prom date. I have chosen a couple of songs that are based on what you have been through. The first song is “Kill You" by Eminem. The quote I chose for this song is “I felt the barrel of Gobi’s gun gouging my pelvis. This relates to the song because Gobi is threatening to kill you.

My second song for you is called “Surprise Your Dead”. I chose this song because when you were sitting in the car you realized “there’s a dead guy on the top of my dad’s car” (40). a man got on top of the wind shield and Gobi shot him and he died. This song connects to the quote because the song is called “surprise your dead” and the guy that was on the car died in an instant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZLv2G0Hhn4#t=34.

My third song for you is called “I cant feel my face”. I chose this song because Gobi striked your face with her gun and it hurt you. I know that you like her a lot but she took you hostage and didn’t tel you what was happening. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqGhMBZKVKw.

Novel Playlist

Dear Iris,

Hey girl how you doing, well I’ve been thinking about you. The other day I was listening to music on the radio and thought to myself, how much you love music so I decided to write you a playlist.

This first song is called Million by Tink, this song could relate to the way you feel about Trick (and yes I know about him). When your dad accused you of being gullible: “you really do believe everything everyone tells you, don’t you?”

Another song that I think you would like is Bittersweet by Fantasia because when your mother left you didn’t know what to feel: disappointed, sad, mad, or even happy for her. A quote you said “I wanted to jump in the back and throw her stuff out onto the drive, but instead I watched as she got the engine going… I couldn’t believe she’d done it. She’d gone. I couldn’t understand what was happening” (80).

 Bittersweet by Fantasia:

Now this song Trust by Keyshia Cole ft. Monica relates to your issue with you mother leaving you, your dad, your brother and the mixed emotions each of you had. A quote you said “She used to get really angry, I said, after a while. She said didn’t want us growing up with her like that. That we’re better off… she said she didn’t want to blame us” (pp 32).

Trust by Keyshia Cole ft. Monica https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkOTimhMwSs

This last song talks about what you feel your dad is going through the lost of his wife, the mother of his children and to handle you and your brother. A quote you said “Dad had put his arm around me at some point, and he was trying not to let me know he was crying… breath, dad said. That’s it, just breath” (pp 80).

Heaven Sent by Keyshia Cole

I hope you love these songs I’ve suggested for you bye.

                   Sincerely ,
                                              Kori Beaumont

Dear Malcolm,
I’m sending you this play list because I know it would be hard to live with the stresses you face. I can tell that you are stressing over what is going on at home and that you have to worry about your grades and basketball all at the same time. My book is the “Final Four” by Paul Volponi my main character is Malcolm McBride. Malcolm is a really good person, he is a leader, and he’s encouraging, and has a big heart. Malcolm would help people succeed in life as he is doing bye going to Michigan state college and playing basketball for them.

The Michigan Spartans Has a game and they are versing Troy University Trojans. They are playing a good game the score is 64-66 with 6.9 seconds left of the game. The Trojans point guard Roko Bacic (Red Bull) is guarding Malcom and they are going at it Red Bull says too Malcom “If I don’t stop you From winning the game maybe you will trip over your big mouth”. As those 6.9 seconds count down Malcolm is planning what his next move is. Finally he brakes to the basket and shot a floater with Red Bull in his face they both jump and he shoots the ball and him and Red Bull fall to the ground neither of them knew if the ball went in and  every one starts yelling Malcolm made the shot the game is going into overtime.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYCufwwuy-o

While they are playing in overtime they are still going at it. While Michigan has the ball Malcolm brings the ball up court and he says to Red Bull "Don’t think you can stop me, This is the real world we are living in not a damn story book". When Malcolm says this it is 12.3 seconds left of over time and he makes his move to the basket with 5 seconds left he stops at the free throw line brakes Red Bull down with a quick cross over and has a open lane to the hoop he takes it in and hits the layup. Malcolm has just lead Michigan State to the final four by beating Troy University Trojans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvStuW85WFg

When Malcolm is dressed and ready to live the stadium there are reporters there too ask him questions about the game and every thing else going on that they know about him.The first reporter says to Malcolm " You've previously said that you only chose college because of the NBA's current rule of not allowing players to enter the league until a year after their high school class graduates.have you grown from the college experience? And will you be back next year, or will this truly be a "one and done" situation for you?". Malcolm says to the first reporter that " I basically came here a grown man with all I had been threw with losing my sister so yes I have grown up and it is going to be a one and done". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RubBzkZzpUA.
When Michigan state continues into the Final Four they have to play one of the best teams in NCAA basketball. They have to play North Carolina Tar Heels. Michigan and the Tar Heels have just started they are going back and fourth as the first half continues. In the second half North Carolina takes a 14 point lead and keep it the for most of the second half . Michigan comes back and is only down by 3 points but North Carolina calls a time out. North Carolina is talking about how much junk talking that Malcolm is saying to there team and it is annoying them. There coach states " He has a freedom of speech that’s very special so he can say what he wants". Malcolm and Michigan state are down by 3 point with 1 minute left Michigan states coach call a pick and roll for Malcolm to either shoot a open 3 or to pass it to his teammate and get the 2 or be lucky and get the And 1. they play it Malcolm cant take the shot and neither can his team mate so the pick and roll doesn’t work Malcolm give the ball to their small forward and he has a open three he shoots it and splashes the 3 pointer the crowd is yell "yayyy we are going to win". But they didn’t see that he game is tied up 72-72 there is 22 seconds left and North Carolina has the ball they try to run the clock out but with 8 seconds left Malcolm steals the ball form their point guard he runs down court he has a fast brake wide open to win the game the clock goes down 3,2,1 he uts the layup up just before the shot clock goes off Malcolm just won the game for Michigan now they make it to the champion ship. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeKYQbjGltY&index=3&list=PL0SK2YA5-B1prCiRHXmlcmEdo2Hj3gkbk

Novel Playlist- Alisa reed

Dear Marisa,

I thought I would send you this playlist to get you through the first couple weeks of college. They are all types of genre of music so I hope you like them!
The first song I chose for you to listen to is "Crush" by Missy Mulatto because It could remind you to when you first liked Alan and he didn’t know. Quote: “ His hand is so close to mine when he gives the notes. Brenda would just tell me to grow so balls and touch his hand and show so interest”(page 11)
The Second song I chose for you to listen to is "Love don’t change" by Jeremih and I chose this because towards the end of the book you and Alan broke up and got back together as if nothing ever happened an none of your feelings ever changed about him and none of his feelings changed about her. The passage reads, "Maybe its just being close to him, I can feel something I haven't felt in a long time creeping back into me"(201).

Brave by: Idina Mendesel
Elastic Heart: by Sia
Fight Song by: Rachel Platten
I was Here by: Beyonce Knowles
Dear Katherine Davis Fishman,
I have been thinking, how much music help motivation in dance. As a friend I picked out some music that I like to listen to all the time. I will like to explain why I picked these out for you. I hope you would enjoy and understand where the songs are taking place.
When you quote, Melanie Parsons suggesting that you: “Exaggerate your gestures- onstage is not like a studio” (90), you show how much effort you put into dance. The song I picked explains emotion throughout the song. Becoming a believer. The artist Idina Mendezel wrote a song called “Brave”; she wanted you to feel how strong of a person you could be. “I don’t know just where going and tomorrow is a little overwhelming”. This song can encourage you to anything like since you have a passion to dance.
When you quote, the teachers suggesting that: “some children who have never danced have an ability to coordinate their movements” (47), I can see when you were dancing at the age of 14yr, you will get up and dance to the music that is played. Mastering different skill levels at a young age girl, you have been rocking it and so talented. The artist Sia wrote a song called “Elastic Heart”, Sia want to explain all the rough time she had. Quote:”You did not break me I still fighting for peace”.  This song keeps positive thing going and expressing.

When you quote, Ana Marie Forsythe’s suggesting that: “How the mind thinks about what the body does” (52), telling a story on how a person feels through a song a describing. You really feel the moment and the vibe.
Wow you are so creative and a hard worker. Reaching on what right between dance and personality. This artist Rachel Platten wrote a song called “Fight Song”, Rachel want to give details on about her successful time through life. Quote: “I don’t really care if nobody else believes”. This song shows how much success means.

When you quote, Deborah remember a suggesting that “you could really see this happy-go-luck sparkling kids very quiet, very insecure” (60) Man, you can inspire a lot of people to become a true dancer. People out there can come see you because you put excitement in others bodies to see you perform. I know I would by a ticket to come and see you. This artist BeyoncĂ© wrote a song called “I was Here”. BeyoncĂ© wants you and others to know how much you care about dancing. Quote: “know that I meant something in somebody’s life”. This song is uplifting.

Katherine I really hope you enjoy dancing your heart out. Just be you and Make a difference.
 Sincerely, Your friend
Shaylee Allen
